XAVIER UNIVERSITY ABSN TUITION

While the price of accelerated nursing school tuition may seem intimidating, don’t let it stand in the way of your future. If nursing is your calling, you owe it to yourself, and those you plan to serve, to pursue the profession.

But like any higher education program, a second-degree ABSN program is an investment that requires financial planning. It helps to think of earning your BSN as a wise long-term investment. After all, nursing is one of the fastest-growing, most rewarding professions available today.

TUITION AND FEES

We base the cost of our ABSN tuition on the number of credit hours required to graduate, which is 63. There are also various supply and professional fees that are separate from the tuition cost, such as your books, scrubs, stethoscope, nurse badge, and liability insurance.

OTHER COST CONSIDERATIONS

When looking at your finances, there are some ancillary fees you should also consider as part of your budgeting process, such as:

  • Academic transcript ordering fees
  • Prerequisite course fees, if applicable. (If taken through Xavier, prerequisites cost $493.75 per credit hour.)
  • Transportation to/from labs and clinical rotations
  • Relocation and cost-of-living expenses, if applicable

If you’re relocating to Cincinnati, Cleveland, or Columbus to attend our ABSN program, your admission counselor can provide you with relevant local information. If you’re in search of a roommate, we keep a database of incoming ABSN students who are looking for roommates.

FINANCIAL AID

There are also opportunities for financial aid, loans and scholarships. Visit our financial aid page to learn more.

Federal Direct Loans

Given the various low-interest loan options available through the U.S. Department of Education, we encourage you, no matter your income level, to apply for financial aid by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — it’s the only way to know what type of loan you’re qualified to receive.

Private Loans

Federal student aid may not cover the total cost of attending our ABSN program. Therefore, it’s a good idea to research private lenders, such as banks or credit unions, and try to borrow from an institution with low-interest rates and good terms. Keep in mind that you may need a co-signer on a private loan.

Third-Party Scholarships

There may be third-party scholarships that could help offset your nursing school costs. The Nurse Education Assistance Loan Program (NEALP), for example, provides financial assistance to Ohio students enrolled for at least half-time study in an approved Ohio pre-licensure nurse education program.

Our Office of Student Financial Assistance can help you identify the best options for financing your Xavier nursing education.
